Who we are
STONECASTLE PICTURES is a nonfiction film company that makes premium branded documentaries. Our name comes from the last and middle names of our founder Barry's grandfathers, Stone and Castle. It was intended as a placeholder when Barry was submitting his first documentary to a film festival. That was fifteen years ago, and here we are. Still Stonecastle.

Five things
You've made it this far into our website, so you'd probably like to know a little more about us. Like how we started and what makes us different. Here are the top five things we think you should know.
We believe the work must work.
If you come to Stonecastle Pictures to make a brand film, it's means you have something to say to your audience. Your film has a job to do. There's a message that you're trusting us to deliver, and powerful storytelling is the vehicle we'll use to accomplish your objective.
We specialize in real people stories.
We're experts at telling brand narratives through the captivating true stories of real people. Our expertise in documentary filmmaking puts a human face on brands who want to connect deeply with audiences.
We got thrown in jail once. In Kenya.
We maintain we were filming legally, but the local authorities saw it differently. After bribes were offered and subsequently rejected, our crew was booked into a nearby jail. Six hours later, with help from the kind folks at the U.S. Embassy, the police let us go. But not with our footage.
Our founder Barry started out as a local TV reporter.
Want to get good at conducting compelling interviews? Do three of them a day, that's what Barry says. Local TV news was his film school, which taught him to work fast and trust his instincts. Read more about how he started Stonecastle here.
We're a filmmaking collective.
We're a community of commercial and documentary filmmakers bound by a desire to tell stories that remind audiences of their shared humanity. Together, our award-winning team manages end-to-end production, from development to delivery.

In the field
Headshots are boring. You want to see behind-the-scenes photos with big fancy cameras? A busy set with massive lights? Maybe a director looking pensive and very artistic. Check, check, and check. If that's your thing, then this is for you. Head over to our Instagram if you'd like to see more.
Shiny things
Who doesn't enjoy a little peer recognition? We've been honored over the years to receive industry awards for both our commercial and filmmaking work.
